AIRA — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 07, 2026
AIRA ("we", "our", "the app") is an AI-powered DJ application developed by Ashok Nalwade. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
| Data Type | Purpose | Stored Where |
| Email & name | Account creation & login | PostgreSQL (Railway) |
| Audio files | Music analysis & playback | AWS S3 |
| Usage data | Play counts, analysis stats, subscription status | PostgreSQL |
| Health data (Pulse tier only) | Heart rate for biometric DJ — adapts music BPM to your activity | Stays on your own devices — never sent to AIRA servers, never stored |
| Motion data (Pulse tier only) | Activity detection for workout mode | On-device only |
| Location | Two uses, both with your permission: your speed adapts music tempo, and your approximate location is sent to Apple Weather to look up local conditions so music can suit the weather | Processed on your device — never sent to AIRA servers, never stored |
| Purchase history | Subscription management via Apple StoreKit | Apple & PostgreSQL |
2. How We Use Your Data
- Audio files are analyzed to extract BPM, key, energy, genre, vocal sections, cue points, and beat grids. This powers AIRA's intelligent mixing.
- Health & motion data (Pulse tier) is used only to choose the next track. Heart rate is measured by the AIRA app on your Apple Watch and sent to your own devices only — to your iPhone over Apple's encrypted Watch connection, or to the AIRA desktop app on your local network if you use it. It is held in memory for the moment it is used and is never written to disk. We never send heart rate to AIRA servers, never store it, and never share it with third parties.
- Anonymous learning telemetry contains no heart rate. Only a coarse derived label (for example “resting” or “moderate”) is sent alongside track information, under an opaque random ID.
- Account data is used solely for authentication, subscription management, and providing the service.
- Location is used only while you are using the app. Your speed is read on the device to adapt tempo, and your approximate location is passed to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve local weather conditions, which influence track selection. We do not receive, store, or transmit your location to our own servers.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
- We do not send your personal data to any third-party AI service. See section 4.
3. Third-Party Services
- Railway — Backend hosting (US servers)
- AWS S3 — Audio file storage (encrypted at rest)
- Apple StoreKit — In-app subscription processing
- Apple HealthKit on Apple Watch — Heart rate is read by the AIRA watchOS app with your explicit permission. The AIRA iPhone app does not access Health data. AIRA never writes to Health.
- Apple WeatherKit — Your approximate location is sent to Apple to retrieve local weather conditions used to adapt music selection. Weather data is provided by Weather (data sources). Apple's handling of this request is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Music metadata services — Apple Music, Spotify, and a tempo-lookup API are queried for track information such as titles, artists, and BPM. These requests contain track metadata only, not your personal data.
4. No Third-Party AI Services
AIRA does not send your personal data to any third-party artificial-intelligence service, large-language-model provider, or AI assistant.
AIRA's intelligent features — audio analysis (BPM, key, energy, genre, vocal sections, cue points, beat grids), transition planning, and the adaptive recommendation model — run on your own device or on our own backend infrastructure. No external AI provider receives your account data, audio files, listening history, heart rate, motion, or location. The “AI” in AIRA refers to our own technology, not to an external AI integration.
If this ever changes, we will state exactly what data would be sent and to whom, and ask for your permission inside the app before sharing anything.
5. Data Retention
- Audio files are stored until you delete them from your library.
- Account data is retained until you request account deletion.
- Heart rate is used in real time only. It is never persisted, on our servers or anywhere else.
- Location and weather conditions are used in real time only and are never persisted.
6. Data Security
All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Audio files are stored in encrypted S3 buckets with private access controls. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
7. Your Rights
- You can delete your uploaded tracks at any time from within the app.
- You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app: open the Profile tab and tap Delete Account at the bottom. No email request is required.
- You can revoke heart rate access at any time in the Health app on your iPhone, or in Settings on your Apple Watch.
- You can revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Weather- and speed-based adaptation simply switch off; the rest of the app continues to work.
8. Children's Privacy
AIRA is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via the app or email.
